Early Child Orthodontics in DHA Phase 4, Lahore
Guiding Growth for a Healthier Future.
Did you know children should see an orthodontist by age 7? At Dental Services in Sector DD, we offer Interceptive Orthodontics (Phase 1). This proactive approach helps guide jaw growth and correct bite issues early, often preventing the need for complex surgery or extractions later in life.

Why DHA Parents Choose Early Intervention
Many parents in Lahore wait until all baby teeth fall out (around age 12) to think about braces. However, catching issues like a narrow palate or a crossbite at age 7 or 8 can save your child from years of difficult treatment. Dr. Rashid specializes in identifying these early warning signs.
What is Interceptive Orthodontics?
It is treatment done while a child still has baby teeth. The goal is not necessarily perfectly straight teeth yet, but a healthy skeletal foundation.
- Palatal Expanders: To widen a narrow upper jaw so permanent teeth have room to erupt.
- Space Maintainers: To hold space open if a baby tooth is lost too early.
- Habit Appliances: To stop thumb sucking or tongue thrusting.
Does Your Child Need Phase 1?
Look for these signs:
- Early or late loss of baby teeth.
- Difficulty chewing or biting.
- Mouth breathing.
- Thumb sucking after age 5.
- Jaws that shift or make sounds.
- Crowded, misplaced, or blocked-out teeth.
Our Process at our Sector DD Clinic
- Growth Analysis: We use X-rays to check the position of developing adult teeth.
- The Plan: If treatment is needed, it typically lasts 9-12 months.
- Resting Period: After Phase 1, we let the permanent teeth erupt naturally.
- Phase 2: Once all adult teeth are in (around age 12), we may do a short round of braces to perfect the alignment.
What Our Parents Are Saying
"Dr. Rashid noticed my daughter had a crossbite at age 8. He used an expander for a few months and it completely fixed her bite. Now her adult teeth are coming in straight!" — Mrs. Haider, Askari XI
FAQs About Early Ortho
Will my child still need braces later?
Likely yes, but the second phase will be much shorter and easier. Without Phase 1, they might have needed teeth pulled or jaw surgery.
Does the expander hurt?
It causes some pressure when you turn the key, but most kids adapt to it very quickly (within 2-3 days).
Can't we just wait until they are older?
For some issues, yes. But for jaw growth problems (like crossbites), waiting until growth stops makes correction much harder.
